During Fall 2024, after a series of poetry workshops, we hosted an event titled Dreams of Freedom, Huriye, Azadi: Centering Artists Impacted by Genocide where we exhibited the visual artwork of three artists-at-risk. The art exhibition included the photography of Rohingya artist Jaitun Nara; Gazan artist Tawfiq Jibreel’s artwork from 2014 and 2024; and paintings by Syrian artist Yasmin Al Yasin. In addition to this, we shared the work of students in Gaza and Rohingya refugee camps who chose to write poetry against all odds.
