Poem: “Miracle"
By Taqwa Ahmed Al-Wawi
Miracle
I am the daughter of struggle
I grew where hope blooms from rubble
My voice is soft yet contains storms
like a faint wind that later turns a calm sea into rage
I am the daughter of the sun
I flicker, like a candle in an endless night
yet I refuse to die
I rise like dawn breaking
I am the daughter of grief
I hold memories like stones in my pocket
touching them as I extend my hands
to hold my hope back
I am the daughter of endurance
scars accumulate under my skin
like hidden maps, guiding me
toward the freedom I dream of
Am I the daughter of the world?
No, I am born of the world’s failure
I am not what the world tries to make me
I am what I choose to become
I am a miracle.
