Silence of the Grain

Silence of the Grain

Dust swallows the steps of the youth, their hands trembling over wheat that moans with loss.

The first fell, a shadow among the rubble, the second groans, his heart torn like winter leaves, the third, with burning tears, digs a hurried grave, burying the two, envisioning the scene in his eyes.

He whispers to the sky: "Your story will remain an echo in silence, yet we go on, carrying you as a faint pulse in the darkness."

Aid arrives, slow as a mirage, bags of wheat spilling on muddy ground, hunger remains, hope trapped, and the final truth…

Who killed us? The grain?
