Marah Al-Khatib, Gaza

Marah Al-Khatib is an Illuminated Cities 2025 Poetry of the Camps-Gaza fellow.

Marah is a 19-year-old Palestinian writer living in Gaza. In her words, “I am supposed to be in the second year of university but I couldn't enroll in university because I only recently finished my high school exams. I have been writing poetry since the beginning of the war because writing comes from pain.”

Recently she wrote an article in Gacetarevista that was translated into Spanish and participated with Arablit in a literary translation course. She is currently translating texts for a book that will be translated into Italian.
