Jaber RC, Rohingya Refugee Camp
Mohammed Jaber (also known as Jaber RC) is Illuminated Cities’ inaugural Fall 2024 Poetry of the Camps-Rohingya Fellow. He was part of the Illuminated Cities teaching team in 2025.
He is a 19-year-old Rohingya poet and writer, co-author of Voices of Survivors: From Darkness to Hope. Born in Baggona village, Arakan State, Myanmar, he fled to Bangladesh in 2017 due to violence and he now survives in the world’s largest refugee camp of Bangladesh. Writing since 2020, he shares his people's struggles through poetry in both Rohingyalish and English. His work has been published on platforms like Rohingya Art Garden (ARG) and Rohingya Motivation and many other platforms, and he has won an award in poetry competition by the Rohingya advancement Committee (RAC). Jaber dreams of becoming a full-time writer, believing poetry can heal, inspire, preserve and document his people's history.
